Fantasy Basketball: The Week’s 5 Best Pickups (3.11)

Bradley Beal

Basketball demands we break down its players not just by stats, but by the time and place they occur. That’s not the case in fantasy hoops, though, where cold calculations rule the day and the matchup. Who are the Fantasy Doctor’s choices for this week’s best pickups? Hit the jump to find out. LeBron, D-Wade Take Out James Harden; Wizards Upset New York

Dwyane Wade

In last June’s Finals, James Harden and LeBron James spent long portions of the action guarding each other. It probably was a big part of why the Beard struggled so badly, and was definitey fuel for his haters to use against his status as a potential franchise player. After watching the Heat’s 114-108 win over Houston last night, it was either an overrated factor, or Harden has gotten a lot better. Read More »

Miami & OKC Gear Up For Game 5; 28 Other Teams Try Catching Up

Kevin Durant

Interesting. It says here that this “National Basketball Association” has other teams besides the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder. Who knew? With Wednesday being a day off from the Finals — albeit not a day off from everybody overreacting to the Finals — some of those other teams were able to borrow the spotlight while figuring out how they can get where the Heat and Thunder are right now … The lowly Hornets and even lowlier Wizards pulled off a trade: Rashard Lewis and a 2nd-round pick to New Orleans for Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza. Video: Bismack Biyombo’s Game-Saving Block At The Rim

Bismack Biyombo

Ah, too bad Chris Kaman wasn’t hunting any bobcats last night. Bismack Biyombo, who might just be the only reason anyone should be watching Charlotte games anymore, took the picture Kaman tweeted to heart. He stuffed Trevor Ariza at the rim with both hands in the closing seconds to secure an ugly two-point Bobcat win. Read More »

Daily Fantasy Basketball Diagnosis: 2.22

Dwyane Wade

Beast of the Night: Dwyane Wade scored 30 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out 10 assists, stole three balls and blocked two shots last night. He shot 69 percent (11-16) from the field, 80 percent (8-10) from the free-throw line and had two turnovers. Wade has quietly maintained top five value so far this season, despite dips in his scoring, rebounding and three-point making. He has cut down on his turnovers and had increased his steals and blocks to make up for those declines. Read More »

The Lakers Reclaim Their City; Dirk Tries A New Career

Andrew Bynum

Lob City’s a Laker town again, if only for a night in this upside-down season where the Clippers are the supposed juggernaut in town. With Andy Garcia looking on with an, ahem, obvious Lakers’ interest, Metta World Peace was as much a factor tonight as he hasn’t been the rest of the season. His physicality and hesitation three, his only bucket of the night, with 3:30 left capped an 11-4 run and the Lakers put the game away from there, thanks to two key plays from Andrew Bynum (19 points). In the closing seconds, he caught a lob from Kobe and finished, and then snuffed DeAndre Jordan‘s layup. Was this truly the night the big kid finally grew up? Read More »

Top 10 NBA Dunks On Emeka Okafor

Emeka Okafor

There’s no doubt that Emeka Okafor is one of the best shot blockers in the NBA. Over his eight-year career, he’s averaged 1.8 blocks per game. The only problem is, when you attempt to block shots, you put yourself in the position to be on the underside of a lot of posters. So after watching him play last night against Houston, I decided now was as good a time as any to compile the top 10 dunks on Okafor from his NBA career. Enjoy! Read More »
