Hawks Forced To Adjust Twitter Avatar Amid 17-Game Win Streak

Atlanta Hawks

NBA diehards have a nearly infinite amount of reasons to glean joy from the Atlanta Hawks’ success. Among the most meta of them is that the team’s official twitter account ushered in the increasingly engaging and witty social media accounts of squads throughout the league over the past couple years. And now that the Hawks are dominating, their tweet game has reached an all-time high – such a height, in fact, that they’ve had to adjust their twitter avatar. Read More »

Kevin Durant Sounds Off On Twitter, And We Love It

Kevin Durant

Twitter has become ubiquitous, especially in the NBA, where all the news, smack and highlights can usually first be found in 140 characters or less. But the people on it can often be insufferable, and it seems like someone or something has gotten to Kevin Durant. The 2014 NBA MVP took to the social networking site today to ask a series of Socratic questions aimed at understanding why on earth anyone would ever send a tweet. Read More »

Kobe Bryant On Temecula Twitter Spat: “Mamba Army Don’t F**k Around”

Kobe Bryant, Carlos Boozer

We haven’t written about it, but a recent fight erupted on Twitter over Kobe Bryant. Besides being roughly the millionth such squabble about the Lakers’ polarizing star, it spread a feeling of melancholy on Christmas Day, so we avoided it. But a reporter explained what happened to Kobe and he had a pretty Vino response. Read More »

Official Nuggets Twitter Trolls LeBron & Cavs

Kevin Love, LeBron James

The Cavs face the Nuggets tonight, after dropping three of their first four to open a 2014-15 NBA season with title hopes. LeBron James has looked off his game, and Kyrie Irving has already clashed with James about the way he runs the offense. Kevin Love has complained about getting more touches in the paint and first-time NBA coach David Blatt looks overwhelmed with his rotations. On top of all that drama — whether real, or exaggerated — the Nuggets official Twitter account decided to have a little fun at the expense of the presupposed Cleveland Big Three in their buildup before tonight’s contest. Larry Bird Calls Paul George’s Ray Rice Tweets “Thoughtless”

Larry Bird, Paul George, 2013-14 Pacers

This morning’s bizarre barrage of tweets by Paul George bemoaning the indefinite suspension of Ray Rice for punching his then-fiancé has been met with some understated outrage — primarily because George apologized and removed the tweets. Still, Pacers president of basketball ops, Larry Bird, felt the need to address them in a statement released by the team. Read More »

Joel Embiid Tweets Boneheaded Ray Rice Joke

Joel Embiid

Unfortunately, we have to write about the Ray Rice fiasco that’s currently dominating water cooler conversations around the country while increasingly turning off fans to the horrific job NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has done in the wake of Rice’s brutal punch of then-fiancé Janay Rice (neé Palmer). That’s because 20-year-old Sixers rookie Joel Embiid tweeted an insensitive joke about the situation. Read More »
