Craig Sager Is Battling Leukemia

Craig Sager

The flamboyant sartorial style of Turner broadcasting’s ubiquitous sideline reporter, Craig Sager, was an afterthought on Thursday night. Sager’s son, Craig Sager Jr., tweeted the news that the elder Sager would be undergoing chemotherapy treatment tomorrow for Leukemia. Read More »

ESPN’s LeBron James Tweet Pisses Off Cavs Fans

Dion Waiters, Bennett Salvatore

It was a pretty joyous moment for Cavs fans after Dion Waiters hit a buzzer-beating game-winner last night in Detroit. It was their first buzzer-beater since 2010, and moved them to within 3.5 games of Atlanta for a playoff spot. So of course ESPN Stats and Info sent a tweet out about the “first career buzzer-beater of LeBron James’ former team.” Read More »

Why The Lakers’ Historic Loss To The Clippers Is No Watershed Moment

Jack Nicholson

The Lakers suffered their worst loss in franchise history on Thursday night, falling to the Clippers, 142-94 in an abortion of every defensive principle at the professional level. As such, the media has deemed it the changing of the guard in Los Angeles since the Lakers suffered the ignominy of such a lopsided loss at the hands of Staples Center partners, the Clippers. But before we overreact to a single game in an injury-plagued Lakers season, let’s not forget that it’s the Lakers and Clippers we’re talking about, and the Clippers still have yet to ever advance beyond the second round of the playoffs. The Philadelphia 76ers retired Allen Iverson‘s No. 3 jersey at halftime on Saturday night with the Wizards in town. Steve Nash’s Self-Deprecating Tweet About All-Star Game Defense

Steve Nash

The 2014 All-Star Game was missing the floppy-haired Canadian that’s spent the last two February breaks resting an often broken down 40-year-old body. While Steve Nash might not be as spry as he’d like — certainly episode 1 of “The Finish Line” showed us that — he’s still got his good cheer. In a 2014 All-Star game that saw more combined points than ever before, Steve Nash lamented the lack of defense. Read More »

Girl Mistakes Tall Man For Dwight Howard; Dwight Corrects Her On Instagram

Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard might annoy Lakers fans and Magic fans, and there’s a large segment of America with no allegiance to either team, but that still loathes his very existence. But Dwight is almost always affable to fans off the court, and never hesitates to sign an autograph or pose for a picture — like he’s doing in the photograph with a young fan in the photo above. A group of girls thought they had run into nice guy D-12 at the store earlier this week, describing him on Twitter as “nice, cool, HUMBLE and had us laughing too!!!” Turns out, it was an impostor. Roy Hibbert Defends Anthony Bennett On Twitter

Anthony Bennett

The Cavs are in disarray, especially in the wake of the New York Daily News piece published this weekend, which detailed how new Cavalier Luol Deng is unhappy with the organization. But it’s their No. 1 pick in this past June’s draft, Anthony Bennett, that’s inspired the most mockery and enmity from fans. He’s been a huge disappointment so far in his rookie season, but Pacers big man Roy Hibbert came to the defense of Bennett after an unflattering photoshop started making the rounds on Twitter. Doris Burke Pissed Off Twitter During Her Interview With Kevin Durant

Doris Burke

We all know Kevin Durant erupted yet again against the Heat on Wednesday night, but it seems he also set off an ecclesiastical debate after Doris Burke pressed him to unveil himself of his usual diffidence in order to bask in the glow of his own dominance. Except, the only person/entity/force Durant could thank was God and/or Jesus Christ. Burke’s giggle and leading follow-up touched off a bit of a firestorm among the more evangelical Twitter users. Kendall Marshall Can’t Shoot As Himself In NBA 2K14, So Stop Asking For Advice

Kendall Marshall

Kendall Marshall has been decent for the Lakers after getting called up from Delaware 87ers 17 games ago. He’s averaging 10.5 points and 9.3 assists in 32.8 minutes a game, and he’s shooting almost 48 percent from three-point range. But his left-handed shot is hard to look at, and the woeful shooting form has made it difficult for fans to shoot as him in NBA 2K14. Marshall is having the same problem when he plays as himself. Rockets GM Makes Twitter All-Star Complaints & Forgets About Jeremy Lin

James Harden, Dwight Howard

After last night’s announcement of the 2014 NBA All-Star Game starters, there were obviously some disappointed players. But Rockets general manager, Daryl Morey, was perhaps the only executive to voice his displeasure about the fan-voted results on Twitter. He felt his guys Dwight Howard and James Harden, should have gotten picked, but failed to realize one of his other players got more votes. Read More »
