Dime’s 2012 NBA Finals Predictions

2012 NBA Finals

With the NBA Finals kicking off tonight, everyone has an opinion on what’s going to happen. It’s been a while since there was no definitive favorite in the Finals. This year figures to be one of the best series in recent memory. Miami has the best player. OKC has the home-court advantage. We think it’s fair to say that the Heat have the most pressure on them, and how they respond to that could go a long way in determining this series. Read More »

Videos: The Top 5 NBA Plays Of The Weekend

Rajon Rondo

The weekend in hoops was one big game of anything you can do, we can do better. The Thunder pull to within 2-1, then tie at 2-2? The Boston Celtics will see that with their own two-game win streak at home. That theme carried over into this weekend’s five best plays. Read More »

Philly Wins One Of The Ugliest Playoff Games Ever; Shaquille O’Neal Could Become A GM

Jrue Holiday

Quick. Everyone start offering the NBA suggestions for what would be a better way than playing a Game 7 to decide this Boston/Philly series. A coin flip? A three-point shootout between Elton Brand and Ryan Hollins? A one-on-one game between Doc Rivers and Doug Collins? How about we just show it on tape delay like they used to do back in the day? We’re not sure anyone is looking forward to it, not even fans in the Northeast. But here we are. Read More »

Should Udonis Haslem Be Suspended For Clocking Tyler Hansbrough?

Udonis Haslem

Why is it that Tyler Hansbrough is always the one on the wrong end of payback? His hit on Dwyane Wade earlier in last night’s Game 5 was absolutely a play on the ball, and somehow turned into a flagrant foul despite Psycho T getting the ball (for the most part). A few plays later, Udonis Haslem, who contends he shouldn’t be suspended because “Nine years in this game, I ain’t never played to hurt nobody,” whacked the Pacer forward across the face with both hands in an obvious retaliation. LeBron, D-Wade Put The Clamps On The Indiana Pacers

LeBron James

It took a few games, but Miami finally takes the Pacers seriously. For a while, LeBron and D-Wade spent their down time mocking Danny Granger and making fun of his tough guy antics. Now they’re swinging back, and that’s the greatest sign of flattery. With the series tied at two, and the Pacers bringing their physicality to South Beach, the Heat’s two biggest stars showed out again, combining for 58 points and leading the Heat to a convincing 115-83 win to take a 3-2 lead. James is on another planet in this series, and kept it up last night with 30 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists on just 19 shots while Wade dropped 28 and three or four replay-worthy shots. Shane Battier Dresses Up & Sings “Eye Of The Tiger,” Then Pulls A Trick On Paul Pierce

Shane Battier

Want to see LeBron James and Shane Battier in a wig? How about Pat Riley singing “My Girl”? Or Juwan Howard in a powerful duet with his wife? Battier was able to get a number of his teammates to support his Take Charge Foundation by taking part in a recent karaoke-based fundraiser called “South Beach Battioke”. The event raised money for college scholarships for Miami area students and as Battier puts it on the Take Charge’s website: “We are changing lives one (ahem, colorful?) rendition of Sinatra at a time.” Read More »

LeBron James Passes Away The Final Shot Again

LeBron James

There’s not much that needs to be said that wasn’t said in Smack this morning. Good basketball play. Not so good decision, if that makes sense. With LeBron, this is all mental now. It’s like Nick Anderson missing four straight free throws to lose a Finals game, and then never being able to hit free throws again. People can argue that he got Udonis Haslem a great shot, but it’s just kind of unfair to put a guy – instead of yourself – who’s scored four points in that situation. Read More »

Daily Fantasy Basketball Diagnosis: 3.2

LeBron James

Beast of the Night: LeBron James posted a sick line to the tune of 38 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, five steals, one block and two three-pointers. He shot 59 percent (13-22) from the field, 83 percent (10-12) from the free-throw line and had zero turnovers (in 41 minutes of play). Sure, the absence of Chris Bosh helped, but these sorts of nights are expected from the No. 1 fantasy stud in the land. Read More »

We Have Confirmation On The Best Team In The NBA; Detroit’s Dilemma

Dwyane Wade

The guys in the NBA TV studios were saying the Heat looked like a championship team last night. Okay, they did play Sacramento, who have lost six in a row and have perhaps the most playground, fundamentally-flawed team in the league. But the Queens really went hard, and had the defending East champs on their heels all night. In the end, Dwyane Wade (30 points on 16 shots, 10 assists) lifted Miami to another level with one of his best games of the season, and for the first time all year, three Heat players scored at least 20 and one of them wasn’t LeBron. They’ve now won seven in a row, all by double digits, and are sitting in first place in the NBA. Read More »
