As Sean pointed out the other day, Under Armour has been killing it during the lockout with their new “Are You From Here?” campaign and tour. And in their latest vignette, a two-minute spot that premiered on SportsCenter the other night, UA follows Kemba Walker as he’s back home in Soundview and the other neighborhoods in The Bronx and NYC that helped him become who he is today. UCF didn’t want to talk Big East. They were also apparently sick of hearing about UConn’s 16-game winning streak as well. Whether they make the jump to the Big East soon or not, the Knights let their play do the talking: we deserve to be there. Down 17 with 16 minutes to go against the defending champs, a team that hadn’t lost a game in seemingly forever, and sporting probably the best backcourt in the country… none of it fazed UCF. Behind Marcus Jordan (yes, the son of MJ) and Keith Clanton (both dropped 20, Jordan added seven rebounds and assists), they stormed back and beat the No. 4-ranked Huskies 68-63. Read More »
Under Armour has been killing it all summer with commercials and tours, and Brandon Jennings is the perfect lockout pitchman. No, he’s not an All-Star (is the next season the year he finally gets into the conversation?) but the time off this offseason has shown how much he loves the game. Perhaps only Kevin Durant and John Wall can say the same. In this new ad, Jennings takes us back to his roots… Compton – “I’m from a place that says a thousand things in two syllables.” Hit the jump for one of the best commercials we’ve seen in a while. We’ve shown you Baltimore. We showed you the game at Boys & Girls High School earlier today. Now check out Brandon Jennings, Derrick Williams, Kemba Walker, Greivis Vasquez and Under Armour balling out at Lincoln High School during the latest stop on their “Are You From Here?” tour. Lincoln’s alumni team included guys like Lance Stephenson and Sebastian Telfair. And while Jennings (39 points) led all scorers, it wasn’t enough as the Lincoln alumni protected their house with a 101-83 win. Read More »
Not all NBA basketball has stopped. We still have Under Armour’s “Are You From Here?” Tour going on with Kemba Walker, Derrick Williams, Greivis Vasquez and Brandon Jennings going city to city and shutting gyms down. After doing their thing in front of some of the Dime crew in Baltimore, last week the NBA stars traveled by pimped-out bus to Boys & Girls High School in Brooklyn. Playing alumni from the school, the Under Armour team won 100-91 behind 43 points and six threes from Jennings. Read More »
Last week in New York City, our friends at Under Armour held an exclusive event to preview their new campaign, and to see the latest collection of UA Basketball footwear and apparel. But before the festivities began, I got the chance to catch up with Brandon Jennings and Derrick Williams and talk about everything from kicks to the NBA lockout. Read More »
There are few NBA players with as much swag as Brandon Jennings. (And I say this in a good way.) So you can understand how excited I am that his new signature shoe, the Under Armour Micro G Bloodline, drops next week. Inspired by his life story, each of the seven shoes in the collection represents a different stop on his distinct path to the NBA. Check ‘em out: Read More »
While we have much more coverage coming your way from Wednesday night’s exclusive event in New York City, we figured we’d bring you some good news first: Under Armour is going on tour. In an effort to bring basketball back to the fans, Brandon Jennings, Kemba Walker, Derrick Williams, and Greivis Vasquez will visit three cities along the I-95 Northeast corridor next month and play against three of the country’s top high school basketball programs.
