The last time Rick Pitino and Mike Krzyzewski met up in a NCAA Tournament game, they were a part of one of the most memorable moments in basketball history. This time, 21 years later, their latest matchup will be remembered for an entirely different reason. Read More »

It had been 19 years since Michigan had made the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. But dabble in a little Trey Burke, and add in some copious amounts of the Kansas Jayhawks — who have a history of this sort of choking — and it all adds up to the best comeback of March Madness … After overtime, the final score read, 87-85, Michigan, but make no mistake: it wasn’t the Wolverines that won the game. It was their point guard. Read More »

If it wasn’t already obvious through their first two tournament wins, the Florida Gators are a team to keep an eye on during the rest of March Madness. They posess all of the necessary tools needed to win it all. While they don’t have players who are locked-in lottery picks, what they do have is a veteran core that fills out their starting lineup. With New York mourning the 16th anniversary (are we really that old?) of the death of Biggie Smalls yesterday, the Knicks gave the city something to celebrate. But fittingly, on this day, they also announced another injury to a major star, one that might murder the rest of his season … J.R. Smith had 24 points, and Steve Novak added another 20 off the pine in New York’s 29-point dismantling of Utah, a game that was never close after the first quarter. Read More »

You saw a D-III cat drop 138 points in a game, and while nothing else is coming close to that, Chris Walker‘s recent triple-double (46 points, 16 boards, 10 blocks) is pretty ridiculous on its own. Florida is one of the nation’s most dangerous teams this season, and next year they are bringing in another spectacular class, headlined by Walker. Read More »

The Washington Wizards have a really strong young core heading into next season, headlined by a dynamic backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal. At yesterday’s 2012 Rookie Photo Shoot, where the top NBA rookies posed in their new jerseys, we had a chance to catch up with Beal to talk pregame traditions, the Wizards’ upcoming season and a bold prediction about Florida’s upcoming basketball year. They used to call it one of the best draft classes of the last 25 years. Now, it’s looking more and more like Anthony Davis… and then everybody else. Still, on June 28, the 2012 NBA Draft will bring hope, and hopefully new talent to some teams that desperately need it.
As we do every year, Dime will be holding you down with Mock Drafts, player interviews and diaries (you should check out Dion Waiters‘ draft diary), and we will also be bringing you draft profiles for every potential prospect deemed worthy. With this year’s crop of talent, that list is long. Our last profile was on the future of UNC’s Harrison Barnes. Today, we’re looking at Bradley Beal from Florida. Read More »

Another day. Another confirmation. Reports are indicating Florida freshman Bradley Beal will be entering this summer’s NBA Draft. Beal himself somewhat confirmed it on Twitter earlier today in a response to a friend’s question, and at this moment, Billy Donovan is holding a news conference to talk about any recent news regarding the team. You can bet Beal’s decision will come up. Read More »

There’s a photo of the NBA championship trophy above the locker of every Knick. Too much? Probably. But at least they can dream. Last week at this time they were closer to filming a horror movie. The Knicks destroyed the Pistons at home last night, 101-79, pushing their run to six of seven since Mike D’Antoni was pushed overboard. Carmelo Anthony was on the court a solid 90 minutes before tip trying to find his touch again, and while he only had 15, everybody else picked up the slack … Read More »

Syracuse nearly became the first No. 1 seed to lose their opening game of the tournament, but that doesn’t mean they still don’t have dope gear. And now as March Madness continues, Nike Sportswear is introducing limited edition collections from ‘Cuse, Michigan State, Kentucky, Duke, Connecticut and Florida. Read More »
