A Broken System: College Basketball’s Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

Tyler Hansbrough

Lately, there has been a lot of controversy about athletes targeting specific classes at the University of North Carolina. Allegedly, these classes included no tests or quizzes, no-show professors and attendance as a large portion of the class grade. While the issue of academic fraud received some attention, and people are calling for it to get more, UNC really is not the problem here. Read More »

Video: UNC Freshman J.P. Tokoto Slams An Insane 360 Windmill

J.P. Tokoto

We all knew J.P. Tokoto had Vince Carter-like potential coming into his freshman season at Chapel Hill (well, at least in terms of dunking), and the 6-5 wing lived up to it during UNC’s “Late Night with Roy” preseason event. He had a couple of nice slams, but the best was a reverse 360 windmill that caused a few fans on the baseline to have accidents in their pants. There was also that ballet show at the end of the video, but we’re not going to talk about that… Read More »

Dime Q&A: John Henson On What The NBA Draft Process Is Really Like

John Henson

The NBA Draft process is a once in a lifetime experience for those who go through it. While there are many broad similarities between the experiences of players during this process – like hectic travel schedules and grueling pre-draft training – each player takes something different away from the process. I decided to talk to 10 different eligible prospects to ask them all the same set of questions to use as a means of comparing their experiences. Read More »

Video: J.P. Tokoto Unleashing His Dunking Fury On Everyone

J.P. Tokoto

Thanks to our friends at The Mars Reel, here is the senior year mixtape for one of the most ridiculous high school dunkers we’ve ever seen: J.P. Tokoto. The best part about this? He’s going to UNC next year, so the Vince Carter comparisons really make sense. Roy Williams says they’re on the same level athletically. Even our man Shaquille Johnson lost a high school dunk contest to Tokoto. See why. Read More »

Dime NBA Draft Profile: Kendall Marshall

Kendall Marshall

They used to call it one of the best draft classes of the last 25 years. Now, it’s looking more and more like Anthony Davis… and then everybody else. Still, on June 28, the 2012 NBA Draft will bring hope, and hopefully new talent to some teams that desperately need it. Read More »

Dime NBA Draft Profile: Harrison Barnes

Harrison Barnes

They used to call it one of the best draft classes of the last 25 years. Now, it’s looking more and more like Anthony Davis… and then everybody else. Still, on June 28, the 2012 NBA Draft will bring hope, and hopefully new talent to some teams that desperately need it.

As we do every year, Dime will be holding you down with Mock Drafts, player interviews and diaries (you should check out Dion Waiters‘ draft diary), and we will also be bringing you draft profiles for every potential prospect deemed worthy. With this year’s crop of talent, that list is long. Our last profile was on the future of St. John’s Moe Harkless. Today, we looked at the overrated/underrated Harrison Barnes. Read More »
