Warren Buffett Endorses Hillary Clinton With A Tax Return Challenge For Trump

Recent polls show Hillary Clinton surging ahead of Donald Trump while Trump is currently dealing with more controversy post-DNC surrounding outlandish statements directed at the Khan family. Since the DNC, powerful supporters for Hillary Clinton have come out of the woodwork including Michael Bloomberg and Mark Cuban. On Monday at a Clinton rally in Omaha, NE another famous billionaire declared their support for the former Secretary of State. Warren Buffett, AKA the fourth richest person in the world, spoke in front of a packed crowd in his hometown and the famed businessman had more than a few choice words for Trump. In fact, Buffett challenged the GOP presidential candidate to a little ‘You show me yours, I’ll show you mine’ regarding their tax returns. Buffett had passionate words:

“Now I’ve got news for him, I’m under audit too. There are no rules against showing your tax returns and just let people ask us questions about the items that are on there. You’re only afraid if you got something to be afraid about. He’s not afraid of the IRS. He’s afraid because of you.”

Buffett, who has supported Clinton in previous elections, also called out Trump on his dubious business practices mentioning the only publicly traded Trump company Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts which ultimately went under just the same as Trump Airlines, Trump Vodka, Trump Steaks et cetera. Buffett stated,

“That was the only time Donald Trump went to the American people and said, ‘I’m a winner, invest in my company … Over the next 10 years, the company loses money every year, every single year. He takes $44 million in compensation. If a monkey had thrown a dart at the stock page it would have made 150%. People who believe in [Trump] came away losing well over 90 cents on the dollar. They got back less than a dime.”

Buffett also had strong words regarding Trump and comparing his “sacrifices” to those that military families have make. Before tearing into Trump, Buffett quoted one of the most memorable lines during the McCarthy hearings by asking him, “Have you no decency, sir?” Buffett then spoke of privilege:

“No member of the Buffett family has gone to Iraq or Afghanistan,” he said. “No member of the Trump family has gone to Iraq or Afghanistan. We’ve both done extremely well. Our families haven’t sacrificed anything, Donald Trump hasn’t sacrificed anything.”

Donald Trump’s campaign has yet to release a statement or tweet about Buffett’s remarks.
