NBA Fantasy Team Analysis: The Portland Trail Blazers

LaMarcus Aldridge

The Portland Trail Blazers have a considerable dose of fantasy appeal. They boast five players who can feasibly be taken in the first half of most standard-sized drafts, which is an impressive feat. Armed with a new, able point guard, the Blazers should be a darling for fantasy owners whenever the league resumes. And if the knees of its hometown hero and hometown bust hold up during a shortened season — wait, let’s not get too greedy. Read More »

Team Jordan vs. Team Nike Game Slated For Miami

Dwyane Wade

Let’s be honest: Who hasn’t had this idea for years? Once Dwyane Wade joined Jordan Brand, I would stay up all night thinking what a three-on-three game between Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul against Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant would look like. Now, sans Kobe, we’ll get to find out. According to Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine, the squads for The South Florida All-Star Classic will be headlined by Jordan Brand players (Wade, Anthony, Paul) vs. Nike (James, Durant, Chris Bosh). Oh yeah, and Kevin Hart and Rick Ross are coaching. Read More »

Nate Robinson Speaks On The NFL

Nate Robinson

We wrote a few nights back that Nate Robinson was either seriously thinking of trying the NFL or he was just having some fun at the expense of Pete Carroll. The Seahawks coach didn’t look at it as a joke, and now it’s apparent neither did Nate. He told HOOPSWORLD: “I mean, why not? It has always been one of my dreams to play in the NFL and right now, the opportunity is presenting itself so I think it’s pretty much a sign from God. I’m looking forward to trying out, having fun and showing the world that, as long as you put your mind to it, you can play any sport you want.” Read More »

Dwyane Wade Very Interested In Playing In China

Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade says he would absolutely listen to offers in China if something came up down the road. Wade has great business sense, and if business and money is what these guys are after, then China is where they need to be. The European leagues have much better competition, but if it’s really about the money, then China is the spot to hit. Someone can build a global empire over there. But will it be D-Wade? … Read More »

The Matt Harprings: The NBA’s 10 Toughest Players

Wesley Matthews

Numb though? Yes, as insane as it seems, Wesley Matthews told the Oregonian he played much of last season unable to feel his right foot. He tore a tendon in his ankle, then went out and scored 26 points the following night (a January win over the Suns) before playing the rest of the way with a flat tire. Read More »

John Wall To Wesley Matthews: The NBA Draft Through The Eyes Of The Players

Ben Gordon

This is around the time you hear all the stories, all the cliches. This is the moment I’ve been working for…I’ve dreamed about this my whole life…I can’t wait to just get to work, I don’t care who picks me…They are all true, but cliche nonetheless. The NBA Draft is a big night, and it’ll shape many young careers. Transcendent players will be spectacular no matter what. But what about those other guys? Guys who fit well in one system but might struggle in another? Read More »

Dime #64: Kevin Durant & Russell Westbrook Are Generation Now

Dime #64

To be honest, we don’t know what the NBA will look like by the time the issue following this one hits newsstands. For all we know, the lockout will be in full effect and half the league will be headed overseas to join Allen Iverson, Stephon Marbury and Ricky Davis. But what we do know is that when play resumes – whether that’s October, November, December, or beyond – the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook will be leading the pack. The Trail Blazers Have The West Right Where They Want Them

LaMarcus Aldridge

It’s the end of March. And though I send my humblest apologies to folks in Minnesota, Utah, Cleveland, Washington, Toronto, New Jersey, and Detroit – it’s just about time for us upper-crust NBA fans to leave your humble franchises behind and get ready for the big show. And while I absolutely empathize with any and all struggling franchises (I have watched the Knicks play for the last decade), I hereby render your 2011 season over. Enjoy your summer. We’ll see you in late June. Read More »
