Dick Bavetta

During a stoppage in play in last night’s exciting game between Indiana’s second team and the league-worst Bucks, Milwaukee center Zaza Pachulia reached out to septuagenarian referee Dick Bavetta for some help to his feet. As you’ll see, Bavetta smartly decided against helping the Bucks big man to his feet. Read More »

Fantasy Basketball: The Week’s 3 Best Pickups (2.18)

Jodie Meeks

Jodie Meeks (Gary A. Vasquez/USA TODAY Sports)

Basketball demands we break down its players not just by stats, but by the time and place they occur. That’s not the case in NBA fantasy hoops, though, where cold calculations rule the day and the matchup. Who are the Fantasy Doctor’s choices for this week’s best pickups? Hit the jump to find out. The NBA’s continuing drive to eliminate flopping from the game continued this past Monday when four different players were warned about flopping: the Spurs’ Patty Mills, Bucks’ Zaza Pachulia and ‘Wolves’ Kevin Love and Corey Brewer were all given an initial warning. A second violation from any of the four will result in the first fine of $5000. Read More »

The 15 Best Moments Of Boston’s Paul Pierce & Kevin Garnett Era

Paul Pierce

Paul Pierce, Dime #5

July 12, 2013 will go down as one of the sadder days in Celtic history. It now represents when Boston Celtic legends Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were shipped off to Brooklyn in an effort to rebuild the storied franchise. We all knew it had to happen eventually. While Danny Ainge absolutely did the right thing by acquiring assets for the aging future Hall of Famers (three first-round picks), it is still unfathomable to imagine KG and the Truth wearing anything else but green. Josh Smith

The second round of the playoffs is underway and with only eight teams remaining, it means another eight have been eliminated from title contention. The offseason is the time for these teams to retool to prepare for deeper runs next season. The Atlanta Hawks have been one of the most consistent teams in the NBA the past six seasons, but not in a good way. The Hawks are always the fourth or fifth seed in the playoffs and have lost in the first round three out of the last six years. Read More »

James White

James White (photo. k1x)

How long have you been waiting for tonight? A couple of weeks? Maybe a month? Well, if you’re James White, you’ve been waiting a decade. Flight White was put on this planet to do one thing. He was born to dunk, and yeah, he’s won some dunk contests over the years (and, somehow, lost a few too). But this will be his biggest stage yet. Read More »

James Harden Can’t Get Revenge On OKC; Eric Gordon Is Back

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant (photo. Nike)

The last time James Harden played against his old team, he had a nightmare game, a half dozen of his shots blocked back into his face. This time, he made his first shot in Kevin Durant‘s face, and was good enough to drop 25 points (still only 9-for-33 shooting against OKC this year). But while the first half played out like a tape from the old And1 video game, the second half became a mismatch, and the Thunder went on to win 124-94. Read More »

Jesus Leads An Incredible Miami Comeback; The Clippers Fall Apart

Ray Allen

After a day watching some of the nastiest rivalries in college sports on the gridiron, we were reminded once Alabama turned Auburn into flattened tire marks that it’s probably still ‘Bama… and then everyone else (although Notre Dame has their chance to complete a storybook season). In the NBA, it’s not quite as simple. But we do know that Miami’s best is better than everyone else’s, particularly if you’re Cleveland and you’re missing your best player. They proved it over the last 1:58 against the Cavs last night in their 110-108 win. Read More »
